…okay, maybe to do creases on trousers. This steamer is da bomb. I steamed two pairs of cargo pants, one pair of jeans, 20 linen napkins, four cotton blouses (Anthropologie styles, with trim and funky pleating), and a table cloth in 45 minutes, with one container full of water. It made every piece look almost as though it just came back from the cleaners–and without any threat of that horrid melted-fabric shine you get when you hold a hot iron over a pocket for too long. I was even able to use it in conjunction with a little Oxy Clean laundry spray to get some red wine stains out of my white linen table cloth. It worked like magic steaming them right out in about 2 minutes. With just a follow-up rinse, dry and full steaming, the table cloth looked new again.

I can’t wait to try it on my wool and cashmere sweaters this winter. I’m looking forward to keeping them in like-new shape and texture without dry cleaning or hand-washing. I’ll never have that giant pile of hand-washing staring me down ever again!

UPDATE on 9-2-10: My lovely steamer has bitten the dust. Literally. Dust is pouring out of this thing. Not sure what the deal was, I cranked all the screws from the bottom, and it turns out that there is a heating stone in the bottom that has slowly been deteriorating with each use. It was breaking down into dust over the months, with little pile of gray matter shaking out every time I’d move the steamer across the floor. I had thought it was just mineral buildup from those times I used tap water instead of distilled. I’ve grown quite attached to my steamer, however, and can’t imagine going back to an iron. I’m considering purchasing this same one again, in the hopes that the last one was just a lemon (since no one else reviewing it seems to have had my problem).

This went over really well as gifts for some people that I never know what to get them. I was even able to try it out on some slacks & it quickly took out the wrinkles and left the crease that goes down the front of the leg. very light weight too, even with the water. good product, especially for the cost.
